It’s Lunch Rush and you have an hour at most to de-stress from your work grind. The constant noise of work complaints, meetings, and incessant mouse clicking from the office are enough to drive anyone mad! Thankfully, you get some down time to unwind and relax. Here are the top 5 relaxing tips to unwind, and get the most out of your time away from work!

Take a Walk. Getting outside and taking a walk has more benefits than simply stretching your legs. Getting out of your work environment can relieve stress by giving your brain a breath of fresh air. Going for a leisurely stroll has also a multitude of health benefits such as helping to maintain a healthy weight and metabolism. Walking regularly can also prevent or manage various conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes while strengthening bones and muscles. Taking a walk has also been proven to improve your mood! So get out there and work those legs!

Eat or Drink Something Healthy. Having a warm cup of herbal tea or a freshly tossed plate of salad can be surprisingly refreshing! Treat your body right and your mind will thank you. Listen to Music. Listening to music has proven health benefits, not only for your body, but also for your mind! Research proves that when you listen to music you enjoy, your brain releases dopamine, a “feel-good” neurotransmitter. It is a direct factor in your contribution to happiness! Music can also inadvertently increase your heart rate and your walking speed which is good your cardiovascular health. Music has also been proven to lower cortisol, the “stress hormone”! Some people with high stress levels find that listening to relaxing or ambient music can significantly lower stress/depression and can even help you sleep better.

Find Your Zen. Finding time to tap into your inner peace is a luxury not many people with busy schedules have. So during your Lunch Break, take some time to really sit and meditate.
